GREEN BOOK 2024

Now in its eleventh edition, the Green Book is the most comprehensive monograph on the municipal waste sector in Italy. The report provides a detailed snapshot of the industry, examining the current regulatory framework, local governance and management models, the financial and asset performance of service providers, and the costs borne by end users of urban sanitation services.

Additionally, the report includes an analysis of service contracts based on a review of public tender documents. The 2024 edition, developed with contributions from ISPRA and in collaboration with ENEA, the WEEE Coordination Centre, and the National Register of Environmental Operators, features a special focus on critical raw materials—resources that are essential to European industry but face a higher risk of supply disruption.
